Sir,

With reference to your letter of the 31st ultimo, No. 24450, on the subject of the two existing vacancies for examining supervisors at the Hong Kong Post Office, I am directed by the Postmaster General to inform you that the two recommended candidates, Messrs. Benson and Martin, have now decided not to accept the appointments. A copy of a statement from Benson on the subject is attached.

As stated in the letter from this Department of the 15th ultimo, Messrs. Benson and Martin are the only two candidates from the London Postal Service who can be recommended.
